OakOak’s Amazing Street Art

OakOak works in an office and just like many other street artists, he does what he does out of the pure love of art and not really for profit. You don’t get paid to make little works of art around your city, you do it because you want it to look more interesting. OakOak’s work around his home town of St. Etienne, France are inspired by baseball and comic books.

He does what many street artists do. He finds shapes around the city, things that most people wouldn’t look at twice, and incorporates them into his art. Here is one of his renditions of the famous painting, “The Scream”.

Here is what OakOak has to say about why he likes to create cute and clever works of art around his city: “It was an industrial city with many coal mines; now it’s in regeneration and still quite poor. But it’s easily travelled by foot with awkward aspects ideal for art. I saw shapes everywhere, and wanted to realize them.” It’s definitely something that many other people living in St. Etienne likely appreciate. Some color and whimsy around an otherwise industrial landscape.

OakOak stays somewhat anonymous like other street artists, even though we know about him, we don’t know really who he is or what he looks like. We know all about Banksy, but we don’t really know who he (or she?) is. We wouldn’t want them to get in trouble for creating their works of unauthorized art, in case a public official got a bug up their butts about it.

What we do know, is that he works in an office and probably looks just like any other pencil pusher. This is great for OakOak, because nobody will suspect him!
